Travel itinerary
We left early from Montevideo to Porto Alegre by bus, enjoying the scenery of southern Brazil. Once in Porto Alegre, we’ll head to the airport to catch our flight to Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais, is a modern city with a unique natural setting. We’ll stay in Belo Horizonte, where we’ll rest and prepare to begin our adventure.
Today we delve into the nature and geology of Minas Gerais. We will visit the impressive Lapinha or Maquiné Caves, famous for their rock formations and natural history. During the excursion, our guide will share interesting facts about the local flora and fauna, making the visit an educational and fascinating experience. Accommodation in Belo Horizonte.
We moved towards Ouro Preto, one of Brazil’s most emblematic colonial cities. We’ll stroll through its historic center, admiring baroque churches like San Francisco de Asís and Santa Bárbara, its squares, and museums.
We’ll have the opportunity to visit local artisan workshops and, optionally, explore some historic mines that offer a glimpse into the region’s past. Accommodation in Ouro Preto or return to Belo Horizonte is possible, depending on availability.
Today we will learn about the icons of Rio de Janeiro: We’ll climb to the top of Christ the Redeemer, visit Sugarloaf Mountain, and explore historic neighborhoods and iconic beaches.
